Girl Scouts’ new cookies are now for ‘man’s best friend,’ without forgetting to innovate in food
The 2027 lineup will bring dogs into the Girl Scout tradition while offering families a cookie created without the nine major food allergens

For generations, Girl Scout Cookie season has brought families together around colorful boxes, familiar flavors and a tradition that extends far beyond the cookies themselves. But children and parents living with food allergies have not always been able to participate. Meanwhile, the dog waiting hopefully beside the table could only watch. That will change in 2027.
Girl Scouts of the USA is introducing two first-of-their-kind products. Patch Pals will give dogs their own Girl Scout-inspired treat, while Girl Scout Sparkables will become the organization’s first cookie developed for families navigating certain food allergies.
Patch Pals are soft-baked, blueberry muffin-flavored dog treats developed in collaboration with BARK, a company specializing in products for dogs. Each treat will feature one of four “patch” designs representing classic Girl Scout experiences.
The treats were inspired by Girl Scouts’ “deep love for their dogs” and created to celebrate “the bond between people and their pups.” Although Patch Pals are intended for dogs, they are made with human-grade ingredients.
Girl Scout Sparkables open the tradition to more families
The second addition addresses a challenge faced by millions of Americans. Sparkables are crunchy oatmeal cookies with chocolate chips and colorful sprinkles, but what they leave out is just as important as what they contain.
The cookies were created to avoid the nine major food allergens: wheat, tree nuts, peanuts, milk, eggs, soy, fish, sesame and shellfish. They are also gluten-free, nut-free and vegan.
Girl Scouts collaborated on the recipe with Partake, a Black-owned and woman-led company specializing in allergy-friendly foods. Sparkables will be produced in a facility designed to avoid the same nine allergens, giving families dealing with common food allergies a new way to participate in Girl Scout Cookie season.
Approximately 22 million Americans were living with food allergies in 2024, according to the Asthma and Allergy Foundation of America . That represents roughly six out of every 100 people in the country.
“Inspired by Girl Scouts around the country who have advocated for expanding the cookie lineup to meet the diverse needs of their communities , Patch Pals and Girl Scout Sparkables offer new ways for more girls, families and beloved pets to participate in the Girl Scout Cookie Program while staying true to what makes the tradition special,” GSUSA said.
Patch Pals and Girl Scout Sparkables will be available exclusively online for direct shipping beginning Jan. 12, 2027, coinciding with the national launch of the 2027 Girl Scout Cookie season. Customers can register for notifications through the organization’s cookie news page or text “COOKIES” to 59618.
Familiar favorites such as Thin Mints, Samoas, Caramel deLites, Tagalongs and Peanut Butter Patties are expected to return. Exploremores, the chocolate, marshmallow and almond-flavored sandwich cookie introduced for the 2026 season, will also remain in the lineup.
Girl Scout Cookie season has always been about more than opening a box. It is about participating in a shared tradition. In 2027, that circle will become a little wider, wide enough for more children, more families and, finally, the dog sitting faithfully beside them.
