How much is the Alaska Permanent Fund payment for September 2026?
Eligible Alaskans are set to receive a combined $1,200 payment in 2026.

The Alaska Permanent Fund payment for 2026 has been set at $1,000, with eligible residents also due to receive a separate $200 energy relief payment.
That means the total amount connected to this year's Permanent Fund Dividend distribution will be $1,200 for people who qualify for both payments.
The amount was agreed as part of Alaska's state budget after months of debate over how large the annual dividend should be.
How much is the 2026 Alaska Permanent Fund Dividend?
The regular Permanent Fund Dividend itself is $1,000.
Alaska lawmakers reached that figure as part of a compromise budget after competing proposals called for different payment levels.
Gov. Mike Dunleavy had originally proposed a dividend of around $3,800, while the Alaska House later backed a $1,500 payment.
The Senate proposed a smaller package consisting of a $1,000 PFD and a $150 energy rebate.
The final compromise kept the $1,000 dividend but increased the separate energy payment to $200.
That brings the combined amount available to eligible residents to $1,200.
Why are Alaskans getting an extra $200?
The additional $200 isn't technically part of the Permanent Fund Dividend itself.
It is a one-time energy relief payment designed to help residents cope with higher energy costs.
Funding for that payment was dependent on state revenue, but Alaska officials confirmed in September that sufficient money had been collected to fund the appropriation.
Nearly $128 million was designated to provide the $200 energy relief payments alongside dividend checks.
The Alaska Permanent Fund Corporation itself manages the assets of the Permanent Fund rather than determining individual dividend amounts.
The corporation says the fund was created to turn Alaska's finite natural resource wealth into "lasting, renewable value for generations to come."
The important distinction for recipients is therefore simple.
The 2026 Permanent Fund Dividend is $1,000, while the additional energy relief payment is $200.
Eligible Alaskans who receive both will get a combined $1,200, although the two components come from separate appropriations and shouldn't be confused as a single $1,200 PFD.
