The Powerball jackpot is back in the spotlight after Monday night failed to produce a grand-prize winner, sending the top prize climbing to an estimated $485 million for Wednesday, October 7.

The cash option for the drawing is approximately $199.8 million, before federal and any applicable state taxes. Wednesday’s winning numbers haven't yet been drawn.

The drawing is scheduled for 10:59 p.m. ET, with results expected shortly afterward. Monday’s winning numbers were 16, 23, 32, 36 and 54, with a Powerball of 9 and a 2x Power Play. No ticket matched all six numbers.

What are the Powerball winning numbers for October 7?

The official winning numbers for Wednesday night will be announced after the drawing takes place.

Powerball drawings are held three times a week — Monday, Wednesday and Saturday — giving players regular chances to chase the growing jackpot.

A standard ticket costs $2, and players select five white-ball numbers plus one red Powerball . The prize structure means a ticket does not need to match all six numbers to win something.

Matching only the Powerball is worth $4, while matching one white ball plus the Powerball also pays $4. The prizes increase as more numbers are matched, with five white balls normally worth $1 million.

How much would the winner actually receive?

The advertised $485 million jackpot reflects the annuity option, which is paid over a period of years. A winner can instead choose the one-time cash option of about $199.8 million, which is the amount available before taxes.

That difference is significant, but both options would still represent a life-changing payout.

Monday’s rollover also produced plenty of smaller winners. In California alone, tens of thousands of tickets won prizes, although nobody claimed the jackpot.

The absence of a grand-prize winner means Wednesday’s drawing will carry even more attention.

Powerball jackpot continues to build momentum

Powerball has produced some enormous jackpots in recent years, including prizes well above $1 billion.

The current $485 million pot is still some distance from those records, but another rollover would push it even higher heading into the weekend.

Players holding tickets should check their numbers after the drawing and confirm any potential winnings through an official state lottery or Powerball source.

Until then, the biggest question remains simple. Will Wednesday finally produce a jackpot winner, or will the prize grow again?
