The inaugural Freedom 250 Grand Prix in Washington, D.C., delivered plenty of racing excitement before the green flag ever waved.
Ahead of Sunday's historic IndyCar event, President Donald Trump and First Lady Melania Trump took a ceremonial "lap of honor" around the downtown street circuit in the presidential limousine known as "The Beast," drawing cheers from spectators gathered around the nation's capital.
The ride served as one of the marquee pre-race moments before drivers took to the track for the 250-mile event. Trump had previewed the moment before taking to the track, joking that his lap would be considerably slower than the speeds fans would later witness from IndyCar's stars.
