SSDI October 2026 Payment: When are disability benefits being deposited for next month?

Most recipients will be paid on one of three Wednesdays, while some SSI beneficiaries could see multiple deposits during October

Millions of Americans receiving Social Security Disability Insurance will see their October benefits arrive on different days depending on when they were born and how long they have been receiving Social Security .

Most SSDI recipients are paid on one of three Wednesdays each month. October follows that familiar pattern, with deposits scheduled for October 14, October 21 and October 28.

The system is designed to spread payments across the month rather than sending every beneficiary money on the same day. A recipient’s date of birth normally determines which Wednesday applies.

SSDI payments spread across three Wednesdays

People born between the 1st and 10th of any month are scheduled to receive their October SSDI payment on Wednesday, October 14.

Beneficiaries with birthdays between the 11th and 20th are due to be paid on Wednesday, October 21. Those born between the 21st and 31st should expect their deposit one week later, on Wednesday, October 28.

There are exceptions to that birthday-based system. People who began receiving Social Security benefits before May 1997 generally follow a different schedule, while recipients collecting both Social Security and Supplemental Security Income can also have separate payment dates.

The Social Security Administration advises beneficiaries not to panic immediately if a payment doesn't arrive when expected. Its guidance is to allow three additional mailing days before contacting the agency about a missing benefit.

That can be particularly important for recipients who rely on the payment for rent, utilities, groceries and other essential monthly expenses.

Why some beneficiaries could see three October deposits

October is slightly more complicated for people receiving Supplemental Security Income because two SSI payments will be issued during the month.

The regular October SSI payment is scheduled for Thursday, October 1. Another payment will then arrive on Friday, October 30, because November 1 falls on a Sunday.

That second SSI deposit isn't an additional benefit or bonus payment. It is simply November’s money being paid early because the normal payment date falls on a weekend.

Someone who receives both SSI and regular Social Security could therefore see three separate deposits during October. First, their October SSI payment, then their usual Social Security benefit and the early SSI payment for November.

That can sometimes cause confusion when recipients see two SSI payments within the same calendar month. The early payment doesn't increase the total amount owed, it only changes when the money arrives.

SSDI and SSI are also different programs. SSDI eligibility is generally tied to a person’s work history and Social Security contributions, while SSI is designed for people with limited income and financial resources.

The dates most SSDI recipients need to remember are October 14, October 21 and October 28. SSI recipients, meanwhile, should watch for payments on October 1 and October 30.
