SSI Payment October 2026 Schedule: when will your benefits be deposited for next month
Recipients will be paid on October 1 and again on October 30 because of a weekend scheduling change
Millions of Americans who receive Supplemental Security Income will see an unusual payment pattern in October, with two SSI deposits scheduled before the month is over.
The first payment will arrive on Thursday, October 1, as usual. A second SSI payment is then scheduled for Friday, October 30, because November 1 falls on a Sunday.
That means eligible recipients will receive two SSI payments during October, but the second should not be viewed as an extra benefit. It's simply November’s payment being issued early because the normal payment date falls on a weekend.
The Social Security Administration ’s official 2026 payment calendar confirms that SSI is normally paid on the first of the month and shows the October 1 and October 30 payment dates.
When will SSI payments be deposited in October 2026?
The October SSI schedule is:
Thursday, October 1, 2026 — Regular October SSI payment
Friday, October 30, 2026 — November SSI payment issued early
Because the November payment is being moved forward, there will be no separate SSI payment deposited on November 1.
A similar calendar quirk will happen at the end of the year. SSI recipients are scheduled to receive a payment on December 1 and another on December 31, with the second representing January 2027’s benefit because January 1 is a federal holiday.
SSI provides monthly payments to low-income seniors, people who are blind and people with qualifying disabilities.
Social Security payment dates for October
Regular Social Security retirement, disability and survivor benefits generally follow a different schedule based on the beneficiary’s date of birth.
The SSA calendar states that beneficiaries born from the 1st through the 10th are normally paid on the second Wednesday of the month.
Those born from the 11th through the 20th are paid on the third Wednesday, while people born from the 21st through the 31st are paid on the fourth Wednesday.
That produces the following October 2026 payment dates:
Wednesday, October 14 — Birthdays from the 1st through 10th
Wednesday, October 21 — Birthdays from the 11th through 20th
Wednesday, October 28 — Birthdays from the 21st through 31st
A separate timetable applies to people who began receiving Social Security before May 1997 or who receive both Social Security and SSI . In those cases, Social Security is generally paid on the third of the month and SSI on the first.
What to do if your payment doesn't arrive
The SSA advises beneficiaries who don't receive a payment on the expected date to allow three additional mailing days before contacting Social Security .
The most important point for SSI recipients in October is that the second deposit isn't a bonus payment.
It's November’s benefit arriving early, creating an October with two deposits followed by a November without a regularly scheduled SSI payment.
