Defying the 22nd Amendment: Trump Claims He Has a 'Right' to Run in 2028 Because 'They Cheated Me' in 2020
'He has addressed the Constitutional Amendment that limits presidents to two terms: "I think the law says that I am not allowed to run again. I have studied that phrase..."'

The President Donald Trump never ceases to surprise with his style of interpreting issues such as the one he has now brought up. Namely, whether he can run again in an election. During a campaign rally in Iowa ahead of the upcoming legislative elections, the leader suggested that he has the "right" to run for the presidency again in 2028 , arguing that the 2020 election was "stolen" from him and "rigged."
And it was then that he brought out all his heavy artillery by citing an example from the past. Trump addressed the Amendment to the U.S. Constitution that limits presidential terms to two . "I think the law says I'm not allowed to run again. I've studied that phrase ... Unfortunately , it's quite concise and there isn't much room for maneuver," the president initially acknowledged .
'But then, he has justified a possible candidacy by referring to his defeat against Joe Biden in 2020 : "They cheated us in the second one because we won three times. So I think I have the right to run again. I think I have the right to run again because they cheated. They rigged the election" .'
Contentious elections in the US in 2020
" State authorities and his own Department of Justice confirmed the election was clean and dismissed the allegations for lack of evidence, but Trump has always maintained that the results had been taken away from him.
The tension caused by that conflict rose even further when on January 6, 2021, the storming of the Capitol by a mob of his supporters took place, who violently broke into the seat of Congress in an attempt to stop the certification of Biden's victory.
