Viral: He ordered a $30 filet mignon at Texas Roadhouse and claims they served him a cheaper cut for the third time

Kenneth Card reported on TikTok that he received a sirloin instead of the filet he had ordered at a restaurant. The chain confirmed an error on one of his visits, although it said it could not verify that it had happened on three occasions.

Kenneth Card, a regular Texas Roadhouse customer, claims he received a cheaper cut of meat than the one he ordered on three different visits to the restaurant. His complaint began circulating on TikTok and has already surpassed 30,000 views.

Card had ordered an eight-ounce filet mignon, which costs around $30 at that establishment, but he claims that a much lower-priced and lower-quality product appeared on his plate.

His experience in kitchens made him notice the difference

The man explained that he worked for years in hotel and restaurant kitchens, where he prepared and cut meat, so he was used to distinguishing the different cuts. "I know what type of meat I'm getting when it's served to me", he explained as he recounted how he detected the alleged switch.

Card said he has visited that Texas Roadhouse about once a week for more than a year and had even developed a close relationship with some employees. According to his account, the first time he received the wrong cut he informed the staff and they replaced the dish with a filet . On another visit, he decided to eat the meat without complaining.

The third occasion was different. The customer decided to speak with a manager and said that the restaurant took the plate back to verify what type of meat they had served him. According to Card, the employees ended up acknowledging that it was not the cut he had ordered and prepared a new one, which he decided to take home.

"This is the third time they've tried to sell me a sirloin, or any other type of meat that isn't a filet", Card recalled about his conversation with the staff. He later posted the video because, as he explained, he wanted to warn other customers to make sure they were getting what they had paid for.

The difference between the two cuts was also one of the points that sparked debate among those who watched the video. Card described the filet as a much more tender meat , while the sirloin has a firmer texture and requires more chewing. Some users acknowledged in the comments that they probably would not know how to tell them apart if something similar happened to them.

Texas Roadhouse responded to the allegations and confirmed that it was able to verify at least one error in the order. A spokesperson explained that the company "has not been able to confirm that this happened on three occasions," but noted that, in the confirmed incident, management quickly corrected the problem and gave the customer the filet he had requested .

The chain added that its employees check dishes before they leave the kitchen to verify the quality and accuracy of each order, and recommended that customers immediately alert the waiter if they believe they have received the wrong cut. Card, for his part, said that after what happened he does not plan to return to the Forsyth restaurant: "I think I'm done going there. I'll try somewhere else."
