When are VA Benefits being paid for October 2026? Date of deposit for every beneficiary
Veterans may get two VA deposits in October

Veterans who rely on monthly disability compensation will see an unusual payment pattern in October 2026, with two VA deposits scheduled within the same calendar month.
The first payment is due Thursday, October 1, and covers September benefits. The second is scheduled for Friday, October 30, covering October benefits that would normally be paid at the start of November.
The timing can be confusing because VA disability compensation is paid in arrears. That means the benefit issued in one month generally covers the previous month.
October’s second deposit is therefore not an extra payment. It is simply arriving early because November 1 falls on a Sunday and VA payments are generally issued on business days.
Exact VA payment dates for October 2026
Veterans and other eligible beneficiaries should expect the following schedule:
Thursday, October 1, 2026 — Payment for September benefits
Friday, October 30, 2026 — Payment for October benefits
The October 30 payment is being moved forward because the normal November 1 date falls on a weekend.
That shift means beneficiaries should not expect another regular VA disability deposit at the beginning of November.
The same basic rule applies throughout the year, if the first day of the month falls on a weekend or federal holiday, the payment is typically issued on the last business day before it.
How much veterans can receive in 2026
VA disability compensation amounts depend on a veteran’s disability rating and whether they have qualifying dependents.
Ratings range from 0% to 100% in 10-point increments. The higher the rating, the larger the monthly payment.
A veteran with a 10% disability rating receives $180.42 per month in 2026, while a 20% rating pays $356.66.
At 100%, a veteran with no dependents receives $3,938.58 per month. A veteran rated 100% with a spouse and one child receives $4,318.99.
Veterans rated at least 30% disabled may qualify for additional compensation for dependents, including spouses, children and parents.
The 2026 rates reflect a 2.8% cost-of-living adjustment.
Who qualifies for VA disability compensation?
VA disability compensation is available to veterans with qualifying injuries or illnesses connected to military service.
Eligibility generally requires active duty, active duty for training or inactive duty training, along with a discharge under conditions other than dishonorable and a current diagnosed condition linked to service.
Qualifying conditions can include hearing loss, chronic back or spinal problems, respiratory illnesses, mobility impairments, PTSD, depression, anxiety disorders, traumatic brain injuries and certain cancers or illnesses related to toxic exposure.
Some conditions are treated as presumptive, meaning the VA automatically recognizes a service connection for eligible veterans exposed to hazards such as Agent Orange, burn pits, radiation or certain Gulf War environmental risks.
The key point for October is that two deposits may arrive, but each covers a different benefit month.
