When is the Alaska Permanent Fund paid in October 2026 and who is eligible to get it?

Two major disbursement dates are set for the $1,000 dividend and $200 energy relief payment

Nearly 600,000 Alaskans are expected to receive this year’s Permanent Fund Dividend , with the first wave of payments scheduled for October 1.

Each eligible recipient is due $1,200 in total, made up of a $1,000 dividend and a separate $200 energy relief payment. The state will then issue a second major round later in the month, while applications approved after those cutoff dates will move into future monthly distributions.

The payment remains one of the most closely watched annual dates on Alaska ’s calendar, particularly as households head into the colder months and higher heating costs begin to bite.

October PFD payments come in two main waves

The first disbursement is set for October 1 and applies to eligible applicants who filed online, chose direct deposit and were listed as 'Eligible-Not Paid' by September 18.

A second round is scheduled for October 22. That payment covers applications that reached 'Eligible-Not Paid' status by October 12 and includes people who filed electronically or on paper, with money arriving by direct deposit or check.

Anyone receiving a paper check should expect a little more delay. Those checks will begin being mailed from Juneau on October 22, so the actual arrival date will depend on postal delivery.

Applicants who miss either cutoff aren't necessarily out of luck. The Permanent Fund Dividend Division continues issuing payments on a monthly basis as more applications move into eligible status.

Recipients can monitor their application through MyPFD and should make sure their address and banking information are up to date before the next payment run.

Who qualifies for 2026 Alaska Permanent Fund Dividend?

Eligibility is centered on Alaska residency. Applicants generally must have been residents of the state throughout 2025 and must have intended to remain Alaska residents indefinitely when applying for the 2026 dividend.

People who claimed residency in another state or country, or received benefits tied to residency elsewhere, can face eligibility problems. Extended absences from Alaska can also affect qualification unless they fall under an approved exception.

Criminal convictions and periods of incarceration can also influence eligibility in some cases.

The state has recently introduced a review process for people whose convictions were later vacated, reversed or dismissed, allowing them to request reconsideration for previous dividend years.

The payment itself comes from a system created to let Alaskans share in earnings connected to the state’s Permanent Fund . Voters established the fund in 1976, and annual dividend payments began in 1982.

This year’s $1,000 dividend was set through the state budget, while the additional $200 energy payment was added separately. That means October 1 and October 22 are the two dates most residents need to watch.

Anyone not paid in those rounds may still receive the $1,200 later once their application is approved and moved into eligible status.
