When will Costco Churros return to the food court and how long will they be available on the menu?

The cinnamon-sugar treat is returning over the coming weeks, but the comeback is only temporary

Costco shoppers have been given the news many had been waiting years to hear as the churro is coming back.

The retailer confirmed that its twisted churro will return to food courts nationwide, reviving one of the chain’s most popular sweet treats after a lengthy absence from the menu.

The comeback begins over the coming weeks, but there is no single nationwide launch date. Costco says availability will vary by warehouse, meaning some locations could get the churro before others.

The price is set at $1.49, with the dessert served warm and covered in cinnamon sugar. Costco has also made clear that this is not, at least for now, a permanent return.

“Look out for it at your local warehouse over the coming weeks as exact launch dates vary,” the company said.

The rollout won't happen everywhere at once

Costco first teased the churro’s return on September 16, then followed with more details two days later. The retailer has not provided a warehouse-by-warehouse schedule, so shoppers will need to check their local food court as the rollout continues.

The returning churro contains 480 calories, according to Costco ’s nutritional information. It joins a food court menu that already includes long-standing favorites such as pizza, chicken bakes, ice cream, smoothies and the company’s signature hot dog.

Costco has also continued to add new items in recent months. Chicken breast strips, priced at $6.99 for five pieces with dipping sauce, were introduced earlier this year at participating locations.

When will churros disappear again

The biggest unanswered question is how long the promotion will last. Costco has repeatedly described the churro as a limited-time item, but the company hasn't announced an official end date.

It's also unclear whether every warehouse will stop selling it simultaneously or whether availability will depend on local stock and demand.

Fans have already reacted strongly to the temporary nature of the comeback.

“Remove that limited time sign,” one Instagram user wrote. “We need this forever.” Another added: “‘Limited time’ better be the next 50 years.” A third response was even more direct: “MAKE IT PERMANENT.”

Shoppers need to check locally

Costco operates hundreds of warehouses across the United States, but food court menus can vary by location. That makes the rollout less straightforward than a traditional nationwide launch.

Some shoppers may see churros back quickly, while others could be waiting several weeks.

The retailer has confirmed the price and the return, but not the deadline. That leaves one clear takeaway as once the churro appears at your local Costco, there is no guarantee it will be there for long.
