When will you get your CalFresh September 2026 payment? Schedule for next month's deposit
California begins issuing benefits September 1, with deposits staggered through September 10

September CalFresh payments will begin arriving for California households at the start of the month, but the money will not reach every recipient on the same day.
California distributes its Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program benefits, known in the state as CalFresh, across the first 10 calendar days of each month.
The exact deposit date is determined by the final digit of a recipient’s county case number.
That means someone whose case number ends in 1 should receive benefits on September 1, while a household with a case number ending in 0 is scheduled for September 10.
The system applies statewide, including in counties such as Los Angeles, San Diego, Sacramento, Fresno, Riverside and Orange .
September 2026 CalFresh payment dates
Last digit of county case number corresponds to your payment date
Recipients should use the final digit of their county case number - not the number printed on their EBT card - when checking the schedule.
September’s calendar also includes weekend payment dates.
California uses calendar days rather than business days, so a deposit scheduled for Saturday or Sunday doesn't automatically move to Monday.
There is no single guaranteed time of day when every deposit will appear. Recipients whose scheduled date has arrived should check their EBT balance and transaction history to confirm whether the funds have posted.
How much could CalFresh provide in September?
The payment date determines when benefits become available, but it doesn't determine how much a household receives.
The maximum monthly allotment for a one-person household in September 2026 is $298. The maximum rises to $546 for two people, $785 for three and $994 for four.
A household of five can receive up to $1,183, while the maximum is $1,421 for six people, $1,571 for seven and $1,789 for eight. Each additional person can add up to $218 to the maximum.
Actual benefits depend on household income, allowable expenses and eligibility.
Nationally, preliminary USDA figures for April 2026 showed about 37 million people in more than 20 million households receiving SNAP , with an average benefit of $186.87 per person.
What if your September payment does not arrive?
A scheduled deposit date only applies if the household remains eligible and the case is active.
California recipients affected by recertification deadlines, income changes, expanded work requirements or other eligibility changes may see their benefits reduced or stopped. Federal policy changes introduced during 2026 have also affected some households.
If the scheduled date has passed and no payment appears, recipients should review their county notices and confirm their case remains active before contacting their county social services agency.
The central point is that eligible California households will normally receive their regular CalFresh deposit between September 1 and September 10 , with the last digit of the county case number determining the day.
