Who is getting their SSDI payment this Wednesday September 23? Complete list of beneficiaries
The final Wednesday payment of September is reserved for one birthday group, with several important exceptions

Another round of Social Security Disability Insurance payments is due this week, but Wednesday’s deposit is not for every SSDI beneficiary.
The Social Security Administration ’s 2026 payment calendar shows that Wednesday, September 23 is the fourth Wednesday of the month. Under the standard schedule, that means the payment is generally for beneficiaries whose birthdays fall between the 21st and 31st.
The rule applies to most people receiving SSDI under the staggered Wednesday system, which separates payments by date of birth.
Social Security pays people born from the 1st through the 10th on the second Wednesday, those born from the 11th through the 20th on the third Wednesday, and those born from the 21st through the 31st on the fourth Wednesday.
Who should expect an SSDI payment on September 23?
The main group due money this Wednesday is made up of SSDI recipients who follow the standard post-1997 schedule and have a birthday between the 21st and the end of the month.
The two earlier Wednesday groups have already had their September payment dates.
People born from the 1st through the 10th were scheduled for September 9, while those born from the 11th through the 20th were scheduled for September 16. The fourth Wednesday, September 23, is reserved for the final birthday group.
If someone receives benefits based on another worker’s Social Security record, the payment date can instead be tied to that worker’s birthday.
Some SSDI recipients follow different calendar
The birthday schedule doesn't apply to everyone. The SSA’s official calendar says people who began receiving Social Security before May 1997 are generally paid on the third day of the month.
People receiving both Social Security and Supplemental Security Income also follow a different pattern, with Social Security paid on the 3rd and SSI on the 1st.
That distinction matters because receiving SSDI doesn't automatically mean September 23 is your payment date. The benefit type, birthday and when payments originally began all help determine the schedule.
What should you do if the money doesn't arrive?
Social Security benefits are typically delivered electronically through direct deposit or a Direct Express debit card.
The SSA advises beneficiaries who don't receive a payment on the expected date to allow three additional mailing days before contacting Social Security.
The simplest way to confirm the date is to check a My Social Security account or compare your birthday and benefit history with the official payment calendar.
The key point is that September 23 is the final Wednesday Social Security payment date of September 2026, and it generally covers SSDI recipients born from the 21st through the 31st who follow the regular staggered schedule.
