Woman interrupts marriage proposal and shouts “Go back to Mexico” in Laguna Beach
Emmanuel Banuelos had spent weeks planning his proposal to Hayley Lugos, but a woman approached just before he could pop the question, and the situation ended up going viral.

For Emmanuel Banuelos, that moment finally arrived on October 2 in Laguna Beach, California , but an unexpected interruption completely changed what he had prepared.
Banuelos was with Hayley Lugos at Crescent Bay Point Park, where the couple had gone for the proposal. Hayley’s sister, Trinity, was recording when a woman walking her dog approached them and began confronting them for using the park . She told them the area was for people who lived there and claimed the police were on their way because they did not have permission to be there.
The mariachis began playing, and Emmanuel and Hayley walked toward the spot they had chosen for the moment, while the woman continued confronting the group. That was when she made the comment that took the confrontation to another level: “This isn’t Mexico either, you m*********, go back to Mexico!”***
Emmanuel did not hide how deeply those words affected him. The young man explained that he has deep Mexican roots , which made hearing that comment particularly painful as he was preparing to ask Hayley to marry him. She also said she was saddened by what happened .
But the confrontation did not change the answer Emmanuel had gone there hoping to hear. The proposal eventually happened, and the couple got engaged. They later returned to Ontario, where he organized a surprise party to celebrate the news with their loved ones .
