Leopard attacks forest department official during rescue operation in India

An injured leopard attacked a forest department official during a rescue operation on a highway in Davanagere, Karnataka, after the animal was allegedly hit by a car. Officials said the leopard was found lying on the road before a team arrived to rescue and treat it, but it suddenly charged at a forest department watcher during the operation. Video of the incident shows the leopard jumping on the official and knocking him to the ground before his colleagues stepped in with a stick to distract the animal. The leopard eventually moved away and ran toward a grassy area beside the highway before being secured and taken for treatment. Officials suspect the noise from the crowd may have agitated the animal before the sedative had fully taken effect.
