A sudden flood hit Nepal and the Tibet border region early Wednesday, killing more than 100 people and leaving hundreds missing, including more than 300 foreign tourists.
Authorities reported deaths across several districts north and west of Kathmandu, while local officials warned the toll could rise as the scale of the destruction becomes clearer.
Most of the missing tourists were reportedly near Mount Kailash and Lake Mansarovar in Tibet, a sacred site for several religions where a festival is scheduled to take place this week.
