Los Angeles sports fans are getting a unique opportunity to celebrate two of the city’s biggest teams at the same time. The Los Angeles Dodgers will honor Lakers superstar Luka Doncic with a special bobblehead giveaway when they host the Pittsburgh Pirates on Friday, August 21.

The promotion is officially part of the Dodgers’ 2026 giveaway calendar, making Doncic one of several major sports and entertainment figures featured during the club’s home schedule.

The bobblehead will be available to fans attending Friday night’s 7:10 p.m. PDT game, with giveaways distributed while supplies last. The Dodgers have listed the promotion as a stadium-wide giveaway.

It’s an especially fitting crossover in a city where Dodgers and Lakers fandom often overlap. Although the teams play different sports, their supporters share a strong connection built around championship expectations and Los Angeles’ distinctive sports culture.

Doncic has also become one of the most recognizable athletes in the city. After taking over as the Lakers’ franchise centerpiece, the Slovenian guard delivered another spectacular regular season in 2025-26.

He averaged 33.5 points, 7.7 rebounds and 8.3 assists per game, establishing himself as one of the NBA’s most productive offensive players.

A crossover giveaway that makes perfect sense for Los Angeles

The timing of the promotion only makes the connection stronger. With Doncic now firmly established as the Lakers’ leading star, a bobblehead featuring him inside Dodger Stadium effectively brings two enormous Los Angeles fan bases together.

It’s a chance for Lakers fans to add an unusual Doncic collectible to their collection. For Dodgers fans who also follow basketball, it’s a memorable piece that represents the overlap between the city’s baseball and basketball communities.

The Dodgers’ promotional schedule has already featured several popular bobbleheads this season, including tributes to Max Muncy, Clayton Kershaw and Reggie Smith. Doncic’s appearance stands out, however, because he isn’t a Dodgers player.

The promotion also comes one day before another major Dodgers giveaway: a Shohei Ohtani “Starter Series” bobblehead against Pittsburgh on Saturday. That back-to-back schedule puts two of Los Angeles’ biggest modern sports stars at the center of consecutive promotional nights.

The Doncic bobblehead is a snapshot of how intertwined Los Angeles’ sports communities have become. Dodgers fans can celebrate their baseball team while taking home a reminder of the Lakers’ new era, and with Doncic carrying enormous expectations into the future, this collectible could become an even more interesting keepsake over time.
