The Los Angeles Dodgers continue to pile up wins, but Kyle Tucker ’s prolonged offensive struggles have become one of the biggest storylines surrounding the team. The four-time All-Star arrived in Los Angeles with a four-year, $240 million contract before the start of the 2026 season , and his struggles at the plate have already drawn comments from key clubhouse figures such as Mookie Betts and Miguel Rojas .

The pressure of a massive contract is weighing on Tucker

Tucker is hitting .232/.327/.368 with just 11 home runs in roughly 120 games , numbers far below the level he displayed during his stints with the Houston Astros and Chicago Cubs . The outfielder has also struggled both at Dodger Stadium and on the road, leading to some boos from frustrated fans.

The slump has turned the 2022 World Series champion with Houston into one of the most scrutinized players in the Dodgers’ lineup. However, he recently snapped the worst hitless streak of his career, going 26 consecutive at-bats without a hit, with an RBI double during Los Angeles’ three-game sweep of the Colorado Rockies .

Mookie Betts, host of Bleacher Report’s On Bas e with Mookie Betts , discussed Tucker’s situation alongside Miguel Rojas and highlighted the pressure that comes with a contract of that magnitude.

“You give somebody that type of contract, there's going to be external pressure and really internal pressure for himself, because he knows he needs to play well,” Betts said.

Rojas, the Dodgers’ hero from the 2025 World Series , also defended his teammate and emphasized the support that exists inside the clubhouse.

“When you feel good, you play good. When you go out there every day knowing the guys have your back, it’s a good feeling… you look to your left and your right and see guys who are going to support you, even if things are not going great,” Rojas added.

Dodgers remain confident in their star

Despite his struggles, the Dodgers continue to believe in Tucker’s talent heading into the final stretch of the 2026 season . The messages from Betts and Rojas reflect a team standing behind one of its most important players while hoping he can rediscover his best form before the playoffs.
