Yankees vs Astros: Schedule for today's game and where you can watch the entire series at Yankee Stadium
The Houston team travels to the Bronx to face the Yankees
Two heavyweight franchises from the American League face off in the Bronx. The New York Yankees host the Houston Astros in an American League showdown that pits a rising team against another fighting to stay afloat. Here’s the full analysis, where to watch it, and the bets worth considering.
The Yankees are in great form; they are in sixth place in the overall MLB standings , and within the American League East they are second, only behind the Tampa Bay Rays.
Their run differential is +95 runs (571 scored, 476 allowed), a reflection of solid pitching that has been the backbone of their season.
Their recent run is among the best in the league: they are coming off sweeping or nearly sweeping Baltimore on the road and only stumbled on August 22 at home against Toronto by 3-4, after having beaten them 3-1 the previous day. In short, seven wins in their last ten games .
On the other side, the Houston Astros arrive much more inconsistent ; in the overall standings they appear in 14th place with a negative run differential of -43 (590 runs scored, 633 allowed). That said: within the American League West Division, Houston is in first place, just ahead of the Texas Rangers.
The Astros' problem is their recent inconsistency. In their last games, they alternated a thrashing suffered against the Dodgers with a 4-0 shutout over the Athletics the next day, only to fall again 3-4 in the second game of that doubleheader. A team capable of the best and the worst in 24 hours .

Yankees and Astro: Form comparison ahead of their matchup
The difference between the two is noticeable in the pitching. New York allows a very low average of runs (476 in 129 games) , thanks to a rotation led by top-tier names like Gerrit Cole, Max Fried, and Carlos Rodón, along with a bullpen featuring closing pieces like David Bednar and Camilo Doval.
By contrast, Houston has allowed 633 runs, the highest figure among the teams still battling for postseason spots in the American League , a warning sign for its pitching staff.
On offense, the Astros are no slouches in talent either: t hey have Cuban Yordan Alvarez as the designated hitter , first baseman Christian Walker, and Dominican catcher Yainer Diaz. When their offense catches fire — like in the 11-2 win over Texas or the 10-7 victory against Seattle — they can beat anyone. The issue is consistency.
