The matchup brings together the top seeds from both leagues, with Milwaukee returning to the World Series for the first time since 1982 and Tampa Bay making its third appearance.

Milwaukee enters the series following a franchise-record 103 regular-season victories and a commanding National League Championship Series sweep of the Los Angeles Dodgers .

The Rays , meanwhile, eliminated the New York Yankees before defeating the Cleveland Guardians in six games to secure the American League pennant.

World Series Game 2: Standings and Results

The Milwaukee Brewers showed why they entered the postseason with the best record in baseball, routing the Tampa Bay Rays 10-1 in Game 3 of the World Series. It was a blowout from start to finish, built on contact hitting, patience, and an offense that never let up in the pressure. The final scoreboard leaves no room for interpretation, and the stat sheet backs it up. Milwaukee racked up 16 hits to Tampa Bay's mere 3, and they spread those hits with devastating efficiency. The Brewers finished with a team batting average of .390, an on-base percentage of .444, and a slugging percentage of .488, for a collective OPS of .932. In other words, almost every time a visiting team stepped to the plate, something good happened. Most notably, Milwaukee didn't need the long ball to seal the rout. There were no home runs in the entire game; The Brewers manufactured their 10 runs with doubles—they hit four in total—and a relentless offense that stranded 18 runners on base. That number, 18 stranded baserunners, reveals that the night could have been even more lopsided: Milwaukee generated constant baserunning and, even without driving in many runners, drove in the 10 runs they needed and more. On the other side, the story was one of utter frustration. The Rays went 3-for-28 with a paltry .107 batting average and a meager .281 OPS. Their single run came as a small consolation against a visiting pitching staff that tossed a complete nine innings, allowing only one earned run, for a 1.00 ERA on the day.

What to expect from the 2026 World Series

The Brewers enter the championship series with momentum after eliminating the defending champion Dodgers , supported by a bullpen that has produced a 1.33 ERA across eight postseason appearances.

Jackson Chourio, William Contreras and Brice Turang provide important offensive options, while Milwaukee's pitching depth has proved decisive throughout October.

Tampa Bay will counter with a starting rotation featuring Drew Rasmussen, Freddy Peralta and Nick Martinez , supported by an offense led by Junior Caminero, Yandy Diaz and Jonathan Aranda .

The Rays are seeking redemption after losing the World Series in 2008 and 2020, while Milwaukee hopes to complete a championship journey that has eluded the organization for more than four decades.
