16-year-old girl storms football field and tackles middle school player before facing assault charge

A middle school football game in Middle Tennessee took an unexpected turn when a 16-year-old girl ran onto the field and went directly toward one of the players.

The video captures the teenager coming in from outside the play before wrapping up the young player and bringing him to the ground with a forceful tackle. For a moment, the scene looks almost like part of the game except she wasn't supposed to be on the field at all.

The incident didn't end when the players left the field. The 16-year-old was later charged with assault in connection with the tackle and has reportedly been banned from attending school activities for one year.

It's the kind of clip that can look surreal when watched for only a few seconds, but the consequences were very real. What happened in the middle of a football game ultimately became a legal and disciplinary matter.
