Arch Manning is aiming to skip the 2027 NFL Draft and enter the transfer portal to play for a new team
The Texas quarterback's inconsistent season has sparked speculation about a potential transfer, with Ole Miss among the schools being discussed as a possible destination.

A rch Manning 's future is becoming a major talking point in college football , with questions emerging over whether he will remain at Texas in 2027 or transfer to another university instead of entering the NFL Draft.
The nephew of Peyton and Eli Manning began the season with expectations of becoming a leading prospect for the 2027 NFL Draft. However, inconsistent performances and costly turnovers have raised questions about his readiness for the professional level.
NFL insider Tom Pelissero fuelled the speculation on October 23 when he discussed a conversation with someone connected to Manning's camp on The Bill Simmons Podcast. When asked where Manning might play in 2027, the reported answer was Ole Miss .
Former College GameDay analyst David Pollack has also suggested that he does not expect Manning to remain at Texas next season.
However, Manning has not publicly confirmed plans to transfer or postpone his NFL career, meaning both possibilities remain speculative.
Why Arch Manning could consider another college season
Manning's performances have fallen short of the expectations surrounding his recruitment. Through Texas' first seven games of the 2026 season, he had thrown for 1,507 yards and 12 touchdowns, alongside seven interceptions. His recent turnovers have become a particular concern for the Longhorns.
Nevertheless, Manning showed his potential in Texas' 34-27 victory over Ole Miss on October 24. He threw for 212 yards and a touchdown while rushing for two scores, including the decisive one-yard touchdown.
The performance was not flawless, as Manning also threw two interceptions and lost a fumble. Still, the victory demonstrated his ability to make important plays against a strong opponent.
Another college season could give Manning time to improve his decision-making and rebuild his draft stock. A transfer might also offer a different offensive system and a fresh start away from the intense scrutiny surrounding Texas.
Ole Miss leads the speculation
Ole Miss is an intriguing hypothetical destination because of Manning's family connections. His grandfather, Archie Manning , and uncle Eli both starred for the Rebels, and Arch visited the school during his recruitment.
The programme could also need a new starting quarterback after Trinidad Chambliss exhausts his college eligibility.
Ole Miss has demonstrated its ability to produce productive offences, potentially making it an attractive option for a quarterback hoping to improve his professional prospects.
Georgia is another possibility, with Gunner Stockton approaching the end of his college eligibility. Tennessee could also appeal because Manning's uncle Peyton became one of the Volunteers' most celebrated players.
Indiana and LSU have also been discussed as potential fits, although neither has been confirmed as a destination. Any move would depend on quarterback vacancies, coaching plans and Manning's own priorities.
A decision that could shape his future
Transferring would require Manning to weigh several factors, including playing time, coaching, offensive fit and NFL preparation.
Staying at Texas remains an option if he can improve his consistency during the remainder of the season.
For now, reports linking Manning to Ole Miss and other programmes have fuelled the debate, but they do not establish that he has decided to leave.
His performances in the coming weeks could influence both his draft prospects and his view of another season in college. Until Manning makes an announcement, the possibility of a transfer should be treated as speculation rather than a confirmed plan.
