Arch Manning once again showed why he is viewed as one of the most promising quarterbacks heading into the 2027 NFL Draft . The Texas star entered the Week 1 matchup with enormous expectations, and while his first interception of the 2026 season drew some criticism from Longhorns fans, the rest of his performance highlighted the talent that has made him one of the most coveted prospects in college football.

In Texas ’ dominant 59-7 win over Texas State , Manning delivered an impressive performance, throwing for 305 yards and four touchdowns while adding the lone interception. Beyond the statistics, it was his ability to perform in pressure situations that caught the attention of analysts.

ESPN Insights took a closer look at Manning’s ability to handle different defensive looks, highlighting his efficiency against the blitz, under pressure and when forced to make plays outside the pocket.

“Arch Manning making things happen… 4-for-4, 46 yards, TD against the blitz… 4-for-4, 52 yards, 3 first downs when pressured… 3-for-3, 48 yards, 3 first downs passing outside the pocket,” ESPN Insights wrote on X, formerly Twitter.

Those are exactly the traits that have made Manning such an intriguing prospect for NFL teams: his ability to read defenses, stay composed under pressure and create plays when the original design of the offense breaks down. Still, some evaluators prefer to remain cautious until they see him produce similar numbers against higher-level competition.

For now, Manning appears determined to live up to the hype and silence any remaining doubters. The Longhorns quarterback will carry momentum into Week 2 , where he faces a much tougher challenge against the Ohio State Buckeyes .

That matchup will provide a true measuring stick for whether Arch Manning is ready to establish himself as the next elite quarterback in college football and maintain his status as one of the top names to watch ahead of the NFL Draft .
