Bill Belichick lashes out at accusations girlfriend, Jordon Hudson, is running his coaching career
The 74-year-old coach insists Hudson has no official role with North Carolina football

Bill Belichick has heard the speculation surrounding Jordon Hudson for months. Now, he is making clear where he believes the line has been badly blurred.
The 74-year-old North Carolina coach dismissed claims that his 25-year-old girlfriend has become deeply involved in his football operation, saying reports about her influence have grown far beyond reality.
“The way the story was picked up was a long way from that,” Belichick told the Wall Street Journal. “Like, ‘She’s trying to be the general manager of the team,’ and it’s so ridiculous.”
Hudson has been a highly visible presence around Belichick , including at games and public appearances, and questions about her role intensified after reports that she had been copied on some communications connected to the coach. Belichick said that interpretation missed the point.
Emails were about personal schedule
Belichick explained that when he arrived at North Carolina, he was juggling several commitments outside football.
“When I took the job here, it was December, and at that time I was doing five TV shows, the radio show, I had a book coming out,” he said. “I had a lot of other things going on when I took the job.”
According to Belichick , that was why he asked university staff to send certain requests to Hudson .
“I sent an email when I got here and I said, ‘Can you please forward any requests to Jordon about my personal appearances so that I can work and coordinate them outside the university?’” he said. “Didn’t have anything to do with the university.”
He said that message was later portrayed as evidence Hudson was copied into virtually every aspect of his work.
“That was leaked [and] released as ‘Jordon’s involved in every single thing that I do and she’s copied on every email,’” Belichick said. “Just a flat-out lie.”
Asked what Hudson does help with, Belichick kept the distinction simple.
“There are some things that she helps me schedule or look at,” he said. “It’s not North Carolina stuff.”
A university spokesperson also told the Wall Street Journal that Hudson has no football “responsibilities.”
Scrutiny around couple has only grown
Hudson does have business ties to Belichick outside football. She lists herself as COO of Belichick Productions and founded Trouble Cub Enterprises, which has sought trademarks linked to phrases associated with the longtime coach.
The relationship drew wider attention after a CBS Sunday Morning interview in 2025, when Hudson interrupted a question about how the couple met. “We’re not talking about that,” she said from off camera.
Belichick later defended her, arguing that the interview was supposed to focus on his book and that Hudson was trying to steer the conversation back to the agreed subject. He has also repeatedly brushed aside criticism of their age gap.
“I’ve never been too worried about what everybody else thinks,” Belichick said. “Just try to do what I feel like is best for me and what’s right.”
