Bryce James challenges Bronny and could spark a brotherly battle with LeBron caught in the middle
Bryce is expected to play a much bigger role for the Arizona Wildcats during his sophomore season.
When it comes to LeBron James ' family, everyone is carving out specific roles in their lives. Savannah James has become a notorious figure in the media space, Zhuri James is blossoming as she enters her teenage years, and Bronny James and Bryce James are following in their father's basketball footsteps.
Both Bronny and Bryce have taken different paths. Bronny attended USC and was then drafted to the Los Angeles Lakers . Since entering the NBA , Bronny hasn't been able to become an impact player just yet, but he has shown modest improvement over his first three seasons. Bryce is hot on his heels, though.
The younger Bryce is with the elite basketball program, the Arizona Wildcats . His freshman season was basically a redshirt season, as he didn't make any appearances. This 2026-27 season shapes up to be a much different season for Bryce.
Bryce James starts Arizona's season opener against UCLA
The sophomore started all three of Arizona's exhibition games ahead of the new season, and was in the starting lineup for the Wildcats' season opener against the UCLA Bruins . James quickly made an impact with an assist, but then missed all three of his shots in six minutes. He was subbed out and head coach Tommy Lloyd didn't put him back in the game for the duration of it.
It wasn't an ideal beginning to the season for Bryce, but the fact that he started the game as a sophomore on the No. 5 team in the nation is definitely a good sign . Many believe Bryce has a much higher ceiling than Bronny when it comes to NBA prospects. The question now is whether both Bryce and Bronny will be in the league before LeBron retires.
