Colin Simmons faces calls for suspension after controversial "pee" celebration
Texas star Colin Simmons sparks controversy after controversial celebration leads to calls for punishment

The Texas Longhorns program secured another statement victory on Saturday afternoon by defeating the Tennessee Volunteers on the road, but the win was overshadowed by the controversial celebration from pass rusher Colin Simmons .
After recording a sack, the defensive standout made a gesture simulating urination, an action that resulted in an unsportsmanlike conduct penalty and sparked a wave of criticism across the college football world.
The controversy grew when Houston Chronicle columnist Kirk Bohls argued that both Simmons and teammate Raleek Brown , who also took part in the celebration, should face disciplinary action from the program.
“Texas should fine both players for their lewd actions on a nationally televised platform in front of 101,915 fans, including President Donald Trump, and millions more watching. It should be obvious by now that these college players are indeed professionals because they are paid handsomely to play football and are representing the school,” Bohls wrote.
Although Bohls referenced President Trump’s presence at the stadium as part of his argument, the controversy extended beyond that detail. Several voices within college football criticized the celebration and called for consequences for the players.
Despite the backlash, Simmons and Brown moved past the controversy with their performances on the field. Both defenders delivered strong outings against Tennessee and played key roles in helping the Longhorns secure a narrow victory, keeping their perfect start alive with a 4-0 record in the 2026 season .
Texas remains the No. 1 team in the national rankings and will have a bye week before returning to action on October 10 , when they face the Oklahoma Sooners in another edition of the Red River Rivalry .
