Nick Saban can't hide his SEC bias as he makes "insufferable" take on College GameDay

The former Alabama head coach has a new idea for the College Football Playoff.

It wasn't exactly a banner day for ESPN's College GameDay this Saturday. Despite having one of the best games of the entire season, Ohio State vs. Texas , the show's co-hosts were the true talking point on social media.

First, Pat McAfee delivered some odd moments, with many fans sarcastically saying they want ESPN to give him even more face time on all of their shows. Then, Nick Saban got into "hot-take" territory by opining that the College Football Playoff committee needs to take into account "quality losses" when deciding who gets into the field of 12.

As Sean Keeley of Awful Announcing points out, the CFP committee already does that . Last season, they added " record strength " as a metric for determining who makes the CFP. That was facilitated by Saban himself, who was outspoken when his alma mater, Alabama , went 9-3 and were left out in favor of Indiana and SMU in 2024 .

Saban's take on GameDay came across to many fans as pure SEC bias . Given that the SEC has the most stacked conference in terms of talented teams going up against each other, of course taking "quality losses" into account would benefit those teams more.

The thing is, it already does. There aren't many who actually believe the committee doesn't already lean in favor of an SEC team over other, smaller conference teams.
