One Arch Manning play may have ruined his Heisman campaign and potential first overall pick candidacy
The Texas Longhorns, and its quarterback, suffered a big setback on Saturday against Oklahoma.

Heading into Week 6 of the college football season, a clear favorite for the Heisman Trophy emerged. Ohio State 's Jeremiah Smith is the overwhelming favorite, despite quarterbacks usually being favored for the award. Smith has been that good.
There's still time for a quarterback to give Smith a run for his money. Coming into the week, Arch Manning was the fifth quarterback in terms of best odds to win the Heisman, but he was considered a longshot . Following the Texas Longhorns ' loss to the Oklahoma Sooners , Manning can kiss the Heisman Trophy goodbye.
Manning's stats already weren't even close to up to par with other quarterbacks, but one crucial mistake against Oklahoma has sunk his Heisman odds, will lead to Texas relinquishing their No. 1 ranking, and could raise even more questions about his candidacy for the first overall pick in the 2027 NFL Draft .
