Steve Sarkisian echoes Nick Saban and calls for CFP committee to not overreact to Texas Longhorns' big win
Texas took down Ohio State last weekend, but Sarkisian doesn't think it changes much of anything.

When it comes to early season, consequential victories in college football, what the Texas Longhorns pulled off last weekend was about as good as it gets. Down by three scores to No. 1 Ohio State , the Longhorns rallied back behind Arch Manning and co. and pulled off an epic comeback victory.
The win was crucial for several reasons, the biggest of which was Texas now vaulting to No. 1 on the AP Top 25 poll . The Buckeyes dropped a whopping five spots, all the way to No. 6 . Losing on the road to the No. 4 team in the country shouldn't come with that big of a penalty, should it? Even Texas head coach Steve Sarkisian doesn't think so.
The AP Top 25 is just one piece of the puzzle when it comes to college football now. The College Football Playoff committee is the one that holds more power in this day and age, and Sarkisian knows that all too well since Texas narrowly missed out on the CFP last season .
Steve Sarkisian implores CFP committee to not punish Ohio State for loss to Texas Longhorns
With Ohio State tumbling down the rankings, Sarkisian is imploring the CFP committee to not overreact when it comes to "punishing" the Buckeyes later in the season . He said as much in his Monday press conference following the big win.
I hope Ohio State doesn't get punished for playing that game Saturday night. They played a heck of a game. It's 24-23. They lose with us scoring with 25 seconds left to go in the game. I hope, if they end up being a 9-3 team, that the committee can appreciate that they came to Austin, Texas, in September when it was 100 degrees and played us in that environment and played a heck of a game. They should not be punished... Quite frankly, Ohio State should be rewarded for playing in this type of game against us
Sarkisian then mentions Texas visiting Ohio State in the first game of last season, which he feels wasn't rewarded as it should be. He hopes the same doesn't happen to the Buckeyes.
Sarkisian's comments somewhat echo what former Alabama head coach Nick Saban said during College GameDay this past weekend. Saban shouted from the rooftops that "quality losses" need to be held in higher regard by the committee . Sarkisian is on that bandwagon.
