What is the longest winning streak in college football? The current NCAAF record
Oklahoma's 47-game run still stands alone in Division I history.

The longest winning streak in NCAA Division I college football history still belongs to Oklahoma, whose remarkable run stretched across five seasons in the 1950s.
The Sooners won 47 consecutive games between 1953 and 1957, a record that has survived every modern dynasty that followed.
Oklahoma's streak finally ended against Notre Dame in 1957 , but no FBS program has managed to reach 40 consecutive victories since.
The closest challenge came from Washington, which won 40 straight games between 1908 and 1914 before its streak ended against Oregon State.
Oklahoma's 47-game streak remains the benchmark
The scale of Oklahoma's achievement becomes clearer when compared with other dominant programs.
Toledo put together 35 straight wins between 1969 and 1971, while Miami reached 34 from 2000 to 2002.
USC also recorded a 34 -game streak between 2003 and 2005, although 14 of those victories were later vacated following NCAA sanctions connected to Reggie Bush.
More recently, Georgia won 29 consecutive games between 2021 and 2023 before Alabama ended the run.
Clemson also reached 29 victories across 2018 and 2019, with LSU ending that streak in the College Football Playoff National Championship.
The modern era has produced several huge runs
Alabama won 26 consecutive games between 2015 and 2016, while UCF reached 25 from 2017 to 2018.
Florida State also managed 29 straight victories from 2012 through 2014.
Oklahoma itself appears more than once among the longest streaks in history. Before its record 47 -game run, the Sooners won 31 consecutive games between 1948 and 1950 and later added another 28-game streak from 1973 to 1975.
The FCS record is separate.
North Dakota State holds that mark with 39 consecutive victories between 2017 and 2021, while the Bison also previously produced a 33-game winning streak from 2012 to 2014.
But when discussing the overall NCAA Division I record, Oklahoma remains untouched.
Nearly seven decades after the Sooners reached 47 straight wins, college football is still waiting for another team capable of matching it.
