B altimore Ravens wide receiver Rashod Bateman is facing multiple charges following an alleged family violence incident in Georgia that involved the mother of his child and their three-month-old baby.
According to court documents and an arrest warrant obtained by TMZ, the incident allegedly occurred at around 6 a.m. on June 3 in Walton County.
Authorities allege that Bateman used an object to damage the windshield and driver's-side window of a 2021 Mercedes-Benz while the woman and the infant were inside the vehicle.
The documents state that shattered glass caused multiple small cuts to the alleged victim's face. Police reportedly observed glass fragments on her face when they spoke with her and also documented multiple contusions.
The couple's three-month-old child was reportedly seated in a car seat in the back row of the vehicle when the alleged incident took place, adding another disturbing element to the case.
Bateman , who is 26, surrendered to the Walton County Sheriff's Office on the same day, according to his representatives and multiple reports.
The charges reported by NFL .com include misdemeanor battery involving family violence, reckless conduct and first-degree criminal damage to property. The case remains pending, meaning the allegations have not been established as facts in court.
Bateman's attorney disputes the portrayal of the incident
The wide receiver's legal team has pushed back against the way the allegations have been characterized publicly.
Jordan Siev , an attorney for Bateman at Reed Smith , told TMZ: "It is unfortunate that a personal family situation has been taken completely out of context for sensational reasons. We will let the court process play out and the facts will come out at that time."
Bateman's legal position will now be tested through the court process, with the available records providing the allegations from the authorities rather than a final determination of what happened.
There have also been developments involving the restrictions placed on Bateman following his arrest. A no-contact order was initially imposed, but Bateman later asked the court to remove it, arguing that the alleged victim wanted to resume contact with him.
The court ultimately approved the request, although restrictions remained in place. Bateman was ordered not to have violent contact with the woman, while his ability to see her was tied to completing a class, according to reports.
The Baltimore Ravens have also acknowledged the situation and said they have been communicating with their player.
"We are aware of the situation involving Rashod and have been in direct communication with him. We notified the league office and have been cooperating throughout the process. As this is a pending legal matter, we will not have further comment."
The NFL has been notified and is reviewing the case, according to NFL.com.
The allegations arrive at a particularly significant point in Bateman's career. The former first-round pick has spent his entire NFL career with Baltimore after being selected No. 27 overall in the 2021 draft.
He enjoyed his strongest campaign in 2024, producing 756 receiving yards and nine touchdowns, which helped earn him a three-year contract extension worth $36.75 million with $20 million guaranteed.
The deal keeps him under contract through the 2029 season.
His production subsequently fell sharply in 2025, when he finished with 224 yards and two touchdowns on 19 receptions. Nevertheless, Baltimore continues to view him as an important component of its receiving group.
Bateman has been involved with the Ravens during preparations for the 2026 season, making the legal developments particularly relevant to the franchise as it considers how the NFL's review could affect his availability.
