Bengals rookie Landon Robinson wins the internet with epic Navy uniform arrival for NFL debut
He honored his Naval Academy background before ever taking a regular-season snap

L andon Robinson ’s first regular-season Sunday in the NFL didn't come with the kind of debut most rookies dream about.
The Cincinnati Bengals defensive lineman was inactive for the opener against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers , meaning there would be no first tackle, first sack or first snap to remember. He still found a way to make the day his own.
Robinson arrived at Paycor Stadium wearing his full Navy service uniform, a choice that immediately stood out amid the usual stream of designer outfits and carefully planned tunnel looks around the league. The reaction online was swift.
“Best pre-game outfit of all time,” one fan wrote. Another added: “Awesome. Congrats to this young man.” A third response captured why the moment resonated: “Now THIS is an entrance. You can buy a designer pregame fit. You cannot buy the story behind this one.”
Robinson’s road to Cincinnati was built at Navy
The gesture carried meaning because Robinson ’s path to the NFL was shaped by the United States Naval Academy. Cincinnati selected him with the 226th overall pick in the seventh round of the 2026 NFL Draft after he emerged as one of the most disruptive interior defenders in college football.
His senior season in 2025 brought American Athletic Conference Defensive Player of the Year honors and AP First-Team All-American recognition.
That résumé got him drafted, but nothing about a seventh-round pick’s roster spot is guaranteed. Robinson had to earn his place during camp and ultimately survived the cut to Cincinnati’s 53-man roster.
“I’m super excited to get started,” Robinson told the Akron Beacon Journal. “I think it’s the beginning of a long, long career, and I’m just excited to learn and grow.
“Obviously, you want to get out there as soon as you can, and you’re eager to go make plays, but it takes time in reality, especially as a younger player,” Robinson added.
First impression came before he ever played
Robinson ’s inactive status meant the uniform would be his biggest contribution to Week 1, but that doesn't diminish what the moment represented. He was entering the NFL without separating himself from the institution that helped get him there.
“You’ve got to learn and you’ve got to grow because it’s a big jump from college to the NFL,” Robinson said. “So, I’m excited to learn. I’m excited to grow.”
That opportunity should come. The Bengals kept Robinson because they believe he can develop into a useful part of their defensive line, and the NFL rarely allows depth players to remain spectators forever.
Injuries, rotation and performance eventually create chances. Robinson will have to wait for his. Until then, his first NFL game will still be remembered for an entrance that said far more about him than any expensive pregame outfit could have.
