Nobody wants Deshaun Watson as Browns starting QB as ticket prices crash without Shedeur Sanders

Cleveland fans appear to be voting with their wallets after Todd Monken chose Watson over Sanders.

The Cleveland Browns ' decision to start Deshaun Watson instead of Shedeur Sanders has been followed by a dramatic fall in ticket prices, adding another layer of pressure to an already unpopular quarterback call.

During the preseason, demand to watch Sanders pushed ticket prices as high as $324, with entry prices more than doubling within days.

That enthusiasm faded after head coach Todd Monken confirmed Watson would start Week 1.

"Browns home ticket prices plummeted down to over half once they announced Shedeur Sanders won't be starting," a Sanders fan account posted on X.

The numbers show how quickly demand changed.

Tickets for Cleveland's home opener against Carolina had been selling between $55 and $64 but fell to $35. Pittsburgh tickets dropped from between $88 and $98 to $70.

Baltimore tickets went from between $58 and $73 to $45, while seats for the Houston game fell as low as $19.

Monken , however, insists outside pressure won't determine his quarterback decisions.

"Absolutely not," Monken said when asked whether public opinion could influence him.

"Would I prefer that we were all on the same page? Yeah, but that has nothing to do with my decision, and it can't ever have anything to do with my decisions. My decision has to be what's best for the Browns Week One, all the way through the season, and as long as I'm the head coach here."

Deshaun Watson now has to win fans back

Watson enters the final season of his $230 million contract having produced 19 touchdown passes across 19 regular season appearances for Cleveland.

He has also gone 9-10 as the Browns ' starter and hasn't completed a full regular season since 2022.

Watson nevertheless described his latest opportunity as "a blessing" and "an honor," adding that he works every day to "put out the best product I can on the field."

Sanders , meanwhile, started eight games as a rookie in 2025, throwing for 1,400 yards and seven touchdowns.

Monken has made his choice. Now Watson has to justify it, because the collapsing resale market suggests plenty of Browns fans still would've preferred to see Sanders under center.
