Shedeur Sanders hit with cold trade warning after Browns win again
The Browns want to keep Shedeur Sanders, but NFL insiders warn that Cleveland’s plans could change if the right trade offer arrives.

S hedeur Sanders watches from the bench as the Cleveland Browns continue to stack wins while he waits for a chance to take control of the offense. However, Deshaun Watson ’s strong play keeps open the possibility that such an opportunity could come away from Cleveland.
The Browns improved to 4-2 after a 13-10 victory over the Baltimore Ravens on Sunday, with Watson firmly established as the starter and Sanders waiting his turn. But Zach “Chopz” Frydenlund warned that the team’s supposed intention to keep the young quarterback should not be taken as a guarantee.
“If Andrew Berry leaks that he’s not going to trade a guy, your antenna should go up that he might trade said guy,” Frydenlund said during an ESPN Cleveland discussion about Sanders.
Cleveland has recently shown a willingness to change its plans. Berry had expressed a desire for Myles Garrett to spend his entire career with the Browns, yet the team ultimately traded the star defender to the Los Angeles Rams in exchange for Jared Verse and draft picks in 2027, 2028, and 2029.
The general manager himself acknowledged that the organization initially resisted the Rams’ interest until it decided the offer was too attractive for the franchise’s future.
That precedent fuels questions about Sanders’ future. The key issue is whether any team would be willing to present an offer significant enough to make Cleveland change its stance.
Shedeur Sanders hires an agent and rumors intensify
Sanders’ recent decision to formalize representation with Young Money APAA Sports added further speculation about his future, as some interpreted the move as possible preparation to seek a way out of Cleveland.
However, Mary Kay Cabot of cleveland.com pushed back on that narrative.
“Two sources close to the situation tell cleveland.com that Sanders didn’t secure representation to seek a trade, and that he’s just in the process of building out his team now that he’s in his second NFL season,” Cabot said. “In fact, Sanders has been affiliated with Young Money since before the 2025 NFL Draft, but didn’t formally sign with the agency until this week.”
The reporter also noted that the Browns’ current preference is to keep their entire quarterback group: Deshaun Watson, Shedeur Sanders, Dillon Gabriel, and rookie Taylen Green.
“They prefer to keep all four QBs. That is the goal right now,” Cabot said on 92.3 The Fan earlier this month.
