Now everyone is wondering if the quarterback will leave Cleveland.

Shedeur Sanders appeared to have a clear path with the Cleveland Browns : wait for his opportunity behind veteran quarterback Deshaun Watson and be ready to step in if the starter struggled or suffered an injury.

The rookie quarterback is already locked into his NFL contract , a four-year, $4.7 million deal , leaving no room for negotiations. Cleveland has also indicated through multiple reports that it has no plans to move on from the young quarterback, although the possibility of him earning another chance on the field remains open.

However, that situation changed after ESPN’s Adam Schefter reported that Sanders made an unexpected decision: he hired an agent.

Shedeur Sanders’ agent begins exploring options

According to Schefter, the Browns quarterback, who entered the NFL Draft and began his professional career without representation, signed with Adie von Gontard , CEO of Young Money APAA Sports . With the move, the agency now also represents his former Colorado teammate, Travis Hunter.

The decision immediately sparked speculation about Sanders’ future in Cleveland.

Charles Robinson , former Yahoo reporter and current NFL Blue Book analyst, questioned the timing of the quarterback’s decision to bring in an agent.

“Browns QB Shedeur Sanders, who went through draft night and the early part of his NFL career without an agent, has signed with Adie von Gontard, CEO of Young Money APAA Sports, for representation. With the signing, YMAPAA now represents former Colorado teammates Travis Hunter and Sanders.”

Is Sanders looking to leave Cleveland?

The possibility of a potential move was also raised by Emmett Golden , host of ESPN Cleveland , who noted that players typically do not hire an agent at this stage unless there is something developing behind the scenes.

“Sometimes a player can tell a team: ‘I want to be traded.’ Or a team can tell a player: ‘We’re going to release you, but you can look for a trade.’ In those situations, you need an agent, because a player cannot call other teams directly and offer himself,” Golden explained.

Golden even suggested two possible scenarios: that Sanders may have requested an opportunity elsewhere, or that the Browns could have told him to explore a trade if they cannot find a role for him on the roster.
