Brian Schottenheimer issues stern warning to Cowboys ahead of historic Rio clash
Cowboys head coach Brian Schottenheimer knows Brazil trip will test Dallas’ mental toughness as the team faces a crucial Week 3 challenge.

The Dallas Cowboys will face one of the most challenging weeks of the season, and Brian Schottenheimer knows the challenge goes far beyond the sporting side. The international trip to Brazil , combined with a demanding schedule, will be a test of preparation, discipline, and mental toughness for his team.
Schottenheimer is in his second season as head coach of Dallas , a campaign in which the franchise is looking to take a step forward after missing the playoffs last year.
With a 1-1 record after the start of the season, the Cowboys will travel to Brazil to face the Baltimore Ravens in Week 3 . Before the game, the coach acknowledged the logistical difficulties of the trip but made clear he is not looking for excuses.
“I’d be a hypocrite if I said I think it’s a tough task. But we’re up to it. We’re mentally tough. We need to be. This is a long season, and I can’t be a win the day type guy and be angry about it. But in reality, it’s a long trip, come home, Houston, short week,”
The Cowboys coach insisted on the importance of staying focused and accepting the circumstances of the schedule.
“But we’re going to win today and then we’re going to (Brazil) and we’re going to win Friday and Saturday and play a really good team and hopefully win that. But you got to stay in the moment. It does require mental toughness. The schedule is the schedule and we will play anybody anytime, anywhere. But it’s unique schedule for sure.”
Cowboys seek to overcome a key test in the season
Dallas will face several major obstacles during the campaign, especially in games that will demand their best performance to compete against the NFL’s strongest teams.
The Cowboys’ offense has shown the potential needed to contend for the playoffs , but the big question mark remains the defense and its ability to respond in high-pressure moments.
After two weeks, Dallas has a 1-1 record and sits in third place in the NFC East , behind the New York Giants and the Philadelphia Eagles , but ahead of the Washington Commanders.
All eyes are now on their international matchup against the Baltimore Ravens in Brazil , scheduled for September 27 at 4:25 p.m. ET—a game that will test the Cowboys’ mindset and ability to adapt.
