CeeDee Lamb rips Cowboys fans over George Pickens trade calls

Amid trade rumors surrounding George Pickens, CeeDee Lamb made his stance clear: the Cowboys’ offense is better with both receivers on the field.

The Dallas Cowboys have found a new dynamic in their receiving corps, with CeeDee Lamb reclaiming the undisputed WR1 role and George Pickens establishing himself as the offense’s clear No. 2 threat.

Both receivers have delivered strong performances and are on pace to surpass 1,000 receiving yards this season. Yet not everyone in the Dallas fan base is convinced that Pickens should remain with the team long-term.

With the Cowboys sitting at 3-5 , a defense ranking among the worst in the NFL , and limited realistic chances of contending for a championship, some fans believe the franchise should capitalize on Pickens’ value and explore a trade before his contract expires this summer.

The thinking is to sell high on a receiver acquired from the Pittsburgh Steelers who could become a significant asset on the trade market.

However, one of the most important voices in the locker room disagrees. CeeDee Lamb came to Pickens’ defense and questioned why some fans want to see him leave Dallas.

Dallas Morning News reporter Calvin Watkins shared Lamb’s comments on the trade rumors:

“I don’t know why that’s the thing, but come on man. Everything that I’ve been able to accomplish has been because of him and what he’s done the year before and vice versa.”

While Lamb’s statement may sound exaggerated — especially since the receiver had already built a standout career before Pickens arrived — there is a valid point behind his argument.

Pickens’ presence has allowed Lamb to face fewer double teams and prevented opposing defenses from concentrating all their resources on stopping him. With another elite threat on the field, the seventh-year receiver has more space to create explosive plays.

Should the Cowboys re-sign or trade Pickens?

The numbers partially support Pickens’ impact on the offense. In 2024 , Lamb’s last season before the former Steelers receiver arrived, he averaged 79.6 yards per game — a lower figure than he is posting in 2026.

That comparison needs context, of course, since Cooper Rush started a large portion of that season due to Dak Prescott ’s injuries.

Still, Pickens continues to carry some questions related to his behavior and maturity. While those issues have not been a significant factor since he joined Dallas, uncertainty remains about whether they could resurface after a contract extension.

If the Cowboys received an offer approaching a second-round draft pick for Pickens , it would be a difficult decision to turn down. The receiver was originally selected in that same round by Pittsburgh, and Dallas already used a 2028 second-round pick to acquire Joey Porter Jr.

The franchise will have to decide whether the Lamb-Pickens duo can develop into one of the NFL’s best receiving combinations or whether this is the ideal time to cash in on Pickens’ value before committing to a long-term investment.
