The flight home will feel even heavier for the Dallas Cowboys after suffering a painful 34-31 loss to the Baltimore Ravens in a thrilling game played at Maracanã Stadium in Rio de Janeiro .

Schottenheimer regrets missed opportunity: “This team is going to stay together”

More than 72,000 fans witnessed the NFL’s third regular-season game in Brazil , a matchup filled with drama until the final second.

Just when overtime seemed inevitable, Lamar Jackson delivered a clutch play by connecting with Zay Flowers for 27 yards , putting Tyler Loop in position to hit a 56-yard field goal that sealed the victory for Baltimore.

The Cowboys had multiple opportunities to close out the game but failed to capitalize, dropping to 1-2 on the season.

After the game, head coach Brian Schottenheimer did not hide his frustration over letting a victory slip away.

“I’m disappointed as hell right now because of the pain in that locker room. This has been a very cool trip. I just wish we would’ve come out with a win,” Schottenheimer said.

However, the coach believes in the strength of the group:

“This team is gonna stick together because of the men in that room.”

Dak Prescott and the offense responded, but it wasn’t enough

Dak Prescott delivered a solid performance, completing 25 of 40 passes for 276 yards, one touchdown, and no interceptions , while Javonte Williams led the rushing attack with 19 carries for 98 yards and a touchdown.

Dallas appeared to have saved the game when Brandon Aubrey connected on a 23-yard field goal to tie the score 31-31 with just seven seconds remaining. Overtime seemed inevitable.

But Jackson and the Ravens’ offense responded with a perfect final drive that ended with Tyler Loop’s game-winning kick.

“I’m hurting. They (the players) are hurting. It was a long trip, but nobody cares about that. We’ll also have a long flight back,” Schottenheimer added.

The Cowboys had trailed 24-13 in the third quarter , but they fought back and stayed within striking distance until the end. However, their inability to execute in the most important moments ultimately cost them a loss that left a bitter feeling.

Now, Dallas will look to bounce back in Week 4 when they travel to face the Houston Texans.
