Jerry Jones’ brutal George Pickens message puts Dak Prescott and Brian Schottenheimer in the spotlight
Jerry Jones is calling for changes after George Pickens’ shocking lack of involvement raised questions about the Cowboys’ offense.

It’s become clear that Jerry Jones holds nothing back when it comes to sharing his opinions about the team he owns. The Dallas Cowboys are not in the best of situations despite having several of the best players in the entire NFL , but there’s one player in particular from whom Jones believes Brian Schottenheimer could get more production.
That player is George Pickens , who has taken on a secondary role in this offense even though he has previously shown he has everything needed to take the team to another level.
Jerry Jones holds nothing back when talking about George Pickens
Jerry Jones didn’t mince words when discussing George Pickens’ role in the Dallas Cowboys’ offense. The team’s owner made it clear that the star receiver needs to be more involved in the attack.
“He needs the ball coming his way more,” Jones said during his weekly appearance on 105.3 The Fan .
The comments come after a difficult performance by Dallas in their loss to the Arizona Cardinals . Pickens recorded just two receptions and played only 42 snaps—even fewer than the team’s third receiver, Ryan Flournoy.
Questions about his usage had already been raised, but the controversy grew after Sunday’s game when a video showed Pickens quickly leaving the field and heading to the locker room before the Cardinals’ game-winning field goal had even fully decided the outcome.
For Jones, giving the receiver a bigger role could be one of the keys to getting the Cowboys’ offense back on track.
“There’s a good argument about what we can do differently than what we did the other day. We have to send more balls in that direction,” the Dallas owner explained.
Pickens is playing this season under a one-year franchise tag worth $27.3 million , meaning he could become a free agent at the end of the campaign if the Cowboys do not reach an agreement to extend his contract.
Additionally, his situation makes him a potential trade-deadline target before the NFL’s November 10 cutoff , especially with Dallas going through a difficult stretch and sitting at 3-5 .
