Jerry Jones fires shots at his own locker room during MNF
erry Jones issued a strong warning before Cowboys-Eagles and reminded Dallas of what happened the last time they faced a team with a backup quarterback.

B rian Schottenheimer ’s Dallas Cowboy s arrived in Philadelphia to face the Eagles in a tension-filled matchup, while former lineman Marcus Spears recalled the battle spirit that defines this historic rivalry. However, Dallas also faced challenges, as two players were ruled out with injuries before the game.
Franchise owner Jerry Jones knew the contest represented a difficult test, especially against an Eagles team arriving without starting quarterback Jalen Hurts and with Tanner McKee in charge of the offense.
Before the game, Jones spoke with Jason Kelce and Pat McAfee , where he issued a blunt warning about the danger of underestimating Philadelphia.
“The last time we played a team that had a backup quarterback we got our a** kicked, ” Jones said.
The Cowboys owner was referring to the Week 5 loss to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers , when Dallas fell 24-16 to a team that started undrafted rookie Jalon Daniels in place of the injured Baker Mayfield .
The Cowboys and Eagles entered the Week 8 Monday Night Football matchup tied for second place in the NFC East , both with 2-4 records, trailing only John Harbaugh’s New York Giants , who sat at 4-2-1.
The pregame buildup was also marked by the reaction of Skip Bayless , one of Dallas’ most well-known fans, who expressed surprise at seeing the Cowboys listed as favorites against Philadelphia. The former FOX Sports analyst is well aware of his team’s inconsistency — capable of showing its best version against tough opponents or falling unexpectedly to inferior teams.
With the game about to begin, the feeling was that a much tighter contest than expected could unfold. Jerry Jones’ warning was no coincidence: few people know the Cowboys’ ups and downs better than the franchise owner himself.
