Micah Parsons' brother rubs salt in Cowboys' wounds with a message for Jerry Jones

One year after the trade to Green Bay, the bitterness surrounding Parsons’ departure remains

A year has passed since Micah Parsons left the Dallas Cowboys , but the bitterness surrounding that breakup is clearly not gone.

On the anniversary of one of the most memorable images from Parsons’ final days in Dallas, his brother Terrence Parsons Jr. reposted a photo of the linebacker lying on a trainer’s table during a preseason game against the Atlanta Falcons and added a pointed message.

“Best thing Micah ever did to get the F outta there,” Terrence wrote.

The photo became symbolic of the contract standoff between Parsons and the Cowboys , even though Parsons insisted at the time that the moment had been misread. He said he had been dealing with back stiffness and pushed back against suggestions that he was disrespecting teammates.

“The way media shapes perception and narratives is wild–and if he hadn’t said anything, everyone would’ve just run with it,” Parsons wrote at the time. “I’d never disrespect the guys out there fighting for their lives.”

Micah Parsons’ Cowboys exit still clearly stings

The tension did not end with that preseason game.

Dallas had selected Parsons with the No. 12 pick in the 2021 NFL Draft, and he quickly became one of the league’s most disruptive defenders. In four seasons with the Cowboys , he totaled 256 tackles, 52.5 sacks and 63 tackles for loss while earning Defensive Rookie of the Year honors and three All-Pro selections.

By 2025, however, contract negotiations had broken down. Reports indicated that Jerry Jones and Parsons had come close to an agreement before discussions involving agent David Mulugheta complicated the process.

Six days after the trainer’s-table episode, the Cowboys traded Parsons to the Green Bay Packers for Kenny Clark and two first-round picks.

Terrence made his frustration clear then, too. He posted “just a point it never had to get to” and later described the situation as “Generational player mismanagement.”

His latest post suggests that view has not softened.

Parsons now has a possible Cowboys reunion in sight

The move to Green Bay gave Parsons the long-term deal he had been seeking, with the linebacker signing a four-year contract worth roughly $188 million.

He responded with another strong season, recording 41 tackles, 12.5 sacks and 12 tackles for loss in 14 games before suffering a torn ACL and meniscus damage in Week 15.

Now, the next chapter could be especially dramatic.

Parsons has been rehabilitating throughout the offseason and recently suggested that a Week 6 return against Dallas is not impossible.

“I think it’s very realistic,” Parsons said. “Me and the staff, we gotta put the work in.”

He added: “Is it possible? Yes. So I wouldn’t say it’s not possible... it’s not off the board, but we gotta put the work in.”

If that return happens against the Cowboys, the anniversary message from his brother will only add another layer to an already loaded reunion.
