The Cowboys need defensive help, and Russell Wilson has a bold solution: make a blockbuster trade for one of the Raiders’ biggest stars.

D allas Cowboys owner Jerry Jones has earned a reputation as one of the most aggressive owners in the NFL trade market and, with his team sitting at 3-4 and looking to reinforce a vulnerable defense, Russell Wilson believes there is a move capable of changing the course of the season.

During the most recent episode of his digital series “Set Hut!” , the quarterback suggested that Dallas should attempt a high-impact trade for Las Vegas Raiders edge rusher Maxx Crosby . For Wilson, the Cowboys need to take an aggressive stance and add a player who can transform their defensive unit.

"If you're (living in) Jerry's world right now, I'm definitely thinking trades. I'm thinking 'Who can I get? Who can make a difference for us?' It may be an edge rusher. Could it be a Maxx Crosby, for example? Could they go get Maxx Crosby? Can the Dallas Cowboys pull the trigger? I'm just saying…" Wilson said.

"Jerry's not afraid to spend his money, so I'm just saying… If I was the GM of the Dallas Cowboys, I'm knocking on the door… I'm knocking on that door (for Crosby)."

Could Maxx Crosby end up in Dallas?

The 2026 season has not been easy for one of the Raiders’ biggest defensive stars. After a trade attempt with the Baltimore Ravens failed to materialize during the past offseason, Crosby has endured a complicated start to the campaign with Las Vegas, which currently holds a 3-4 record.

In seven games, the star defender has recorded just two sacks, including one-and-a-half in the Week 1 victory over the Miami Dolphins .

However, his low production may be more related to a lack of support around him than to a drop in his level of play. Opposing teams have identified Crosby as the primary threat of the Raiders’ defense, a unit that currently ranks 29th in the NFL .

The biggest obstacle for Dallas would not be Crosby’s talent, but rather the price they would have to pay to acquire him.

The Cowboys already surrendered a first-round pick in the 2027 NFL Draft as part of the trade for defensive tackle Quinnen Williams , though they still have a first-round selection obtained in the historic move that sent Micah Parsons out of the team.

With the season entering a decisive point, Dallas faces pressure to improve a defense that has shown consistency issues. The arrival of a player like Crosby could give the team a dominant presence on the defensive line.

Now the question is whether Jerry Jones will be willing to make another high-impact move before the trade deadline and whether the Cowboys consider Maxx Crosby the piece they need to compete again in the NFC East.
