CeeDee Lamb was preparing for another season as one of the Dallas Cowboys ’ biggest offensive weapons when criminals targeted his Texas home, stealing more than $300,000 worth of luxury items while he was away at training camp.

The burglary happened at Lamb ’s residence in Fairview, Texas, while the wide receiver was with the Cowboys in Oxnard, California.

According to police records, the break-in was discovered on July 31 after a worker assisting with renovations near the property noticed a broken window.

After checking the home and finding evidence of a burglary, the worker contacted authorities. Police later determined that the intruder had entered through the damaged window and taken several expensive belongings, including four luxury bags.

No suspects have been identified, and the Fairview Police Department continues to investigate the incident. The break-in adds Lamb ’s name to a growing list of professional athletes who have had their homes targeted while away from their properties.

NFL players increasingly targeted

Home burglaries involving NFL stars have become an increasing concern in recent years, with criminals often targeting players when they are traveling for games, practices or other team activities.

Along with Lamb , several high-profile players have experienced similar incidents, including Patrick Mahomes, Joe Burrow and Shedeur Sanders . Cowboys defensive tackle Linval Joseph also had his home burglarized in 2024.

The NFL responded to the rise in incidents by issuing a security alert warning players that organized groups were using public information, social media posts and team schedules to track when homes were likely to be empty.

The league advised players to limit sharing their locations online, strengthen home security measures and avoid publicly displaying valuable possessions.

While many previous burglaries occurred during games when players were away, Lamb ’s case shows that criminals are also taking advantage of extended absences, such as training camps.

Cowboys quarterback Dak Prescott recently spoke about the challenges that come with being a high-profile athlete and how public success can create security risks.

“Not everything that comes with it [fame] is great,” Prescott said. “You weigh the good with the bad. What we’re subject to, that others can look up and just see how much we make or maybe an address, and that puts us subject to a target.”

Lamb keeps focus on Cowboys season

The burglary comes as Lamb enters another important season with Dallas, continuing to establish himself as one of the NFL’s elite wide receivers.

Despite dealing with an ankle injury during the 2025 season, Lamb still surpassed 1,000 receiving yards for the fifth consecutive year, remaining a key part of the Cowboys ’ offensive plans.

He has also built a strong relationship with new teammate George Pickens , with Prescott praising the pair for their chemistry and willingness to put the team ahead of individual success.

“Just their personalities, they’re truly unselfish,” Prescott said. “They truly want the other guy to have just as much success as each of them has individually; they’re cheering each other on.”

The Cowboys are preparing for their season opener against the New York Giants , while Lamb waits for authorities to complete their investigation.

The incident is another reminder of the unique challenges faced by professional athletes, where fame and financial success can also bring unwanted attention away from the field.
