Deshaun Watson appears to forget brutal Bills game weeks later: “Which Buffalo game?”

Deshaun Watson needed a reminder about the Cleveland Browns’ last preseason game and the awkward exchange immediately raised eyebrows. “Is the Buffalo game out of your mind?” a reporter asked. Watson responded, “Which Buffalo game?” After being told it was his most recent preseason appearance, the quarterback paused before answering: “Oh… yeah. I mean, yeah.” It was a strange reaction considering what happened that afternoon. Watson completed only five of 12 passes for 36 yards, threw an interception and failed to produce points during his three possessions as Cleveland lost 31-7 to Buffalo. The quarterback was also repeatedly booed by Browns fans and later described their reaction as “disrespectful” and “personal.” He eventually walked back those comments, admitting that his emotions had gotten the best of him. Whether Watson genuinely forgot, misunderstood the question or simply wanted to erase the ugly performance from his memory, the timing made the moment difficult to ignore. Cleveland has named him its starter over Shedeur Sanders, placing him under enormous pressure before the Browns open their regular season against the Jacksonville Jaguars.
