The harsh words Joe Buck said to Troy Aikman during their off-camera argument on Monday Night Football have leaked
The longtime broadcasting partners reportedly traded harsh words as tensions over their ESPN futures continued to grow

Joe Buck and Troy Aikman have reportedly exchanged some uncomfortable words behind the scenes, with new details emerging about a heated confrontation that threatens to overshadow ESPN's Monday Night Football coverage.
According to The Athletic's Andrew Marchand, the longtime broadcasting partners reached a breaking point before the Buffalo Bills faced the Los Angeles Rams at SoFi Stadium on October 12.
Although viewers saw a seemingly normal broadcast, the atmosphere behind the scenes was reportedly far less friendly.
The disagreement allegedly stemmed from growing resentment after Buck secured a lucrative contract extension with ESPN without informing Aikman .
The development reportedly left the former Dallas Cowboys quarterback feeling betrayed, particularly as his own future with the network remained uncertain.
Marchand revealed that Buck initiated the uncomfortable exchange by asking Aikman , "You are not going to f***ing talk to me?" The conversation quickly became more confrontational, with Buck reportedly insisting, "I'm not the reason you don't have a contract."
Aikman allegedly responded by expressing his disappointment, telling Buck, "I just never thought you'd do it to me."
Joe Buck and Troy Aikman's disagreement goes beyond contract negotiations
Interestingly, the reported argument wasn't entirely about money or ESPN's decision to extend Buck's contract. Marchand's reporting suggests Aikman had also developed resentment over the repeated departures of producers and directors during their time working together.
Their Monday Night Football broadcast team reportedly went through five different production leadership combinations before finding stability with Steve Ackles and Artie Kempner.
Buck allegedly pushed back against Aikman's criticism, suggesting the production staff changes were connected to the former quarterback's behavior.
"They got rid of them because you were screaming at them," Buck reportedly told him.
The exchange shows how deeply the relationship has deteriorated despite both men maintaining their professional standards during live broadcasts. Their partnership dates back to 2002, when they began working together at Fox, eventually becoming one of football's most recognizable announcing duos.
Meanwhile, questions surrounding Aikman's future are becoming increasingly difficult for ESPN to ignore. His contract expires in March, and he recently described his chances of returning to television next season as 50-50.
If the two sides eventually part ways, Fox analyst Greg Olsen has emerged as a leading candidate to replace Aikman . Olsen previously worked as Fox's top analyst alongside Kevin Burkhardt before Tom Brady's arrival pushed him into the network's second broadcasting team.
ESPN could also explore other options, including Peyton Manning, Eli Manning or members of the Kelce family.
Interestingly, Buck reportedly would've welcomed Olsen as his broadcasting partner, despite previously leaving Fox partly because he wanted to continue working alongside Aikman .
Buck and Aikman are expected to continue working together through ESPN's first Super Bowl broadcast. However, their reported confrontation has raised serious questions about whether a partnership spanning more than two decades can survive beyond the current season.
