Tyreek Hill hints at NFL comeback with cold-weather message, ex-teammate fires back
The former Dolphins receiver appears to be nearing a return

Tyreek Hill’s latest social-media post has added another layer to the growing conversation around his possible NFL comeback.
The eight-time Pro Bowl wide receiver wrote that he thinks he’s “ready for some cold weather,” a line that quickly sparked speculation about where he could land if he returns.
Hill has remained unsigned since the Miami Dolphins released him in February, while his recovery from a serious knee injury has kept the timing of his comeback uncertain.
The cold-weather remark also caught the attention of former Dolphins teammate Jordan Poyer, who didn’t hesitate to challenge Hill’s claim. Poyer recalled Miami’s January 2024 playoff visit to Kansas City, joking that Hill was happy to appear tough in the extreme conditions but later admitted he wasn’t enjoying the experience.
“He lying,” said Poyer . “He was one of those guys. When we played against the (Kansas City) Chiefs in the playoff game, it was below zero, and he was out there with his shirt off.
“He was that guy. But he was back in the locker room saying, ‘Yeah, I can’t do this.’ I’m excited, I wanna see what he really talking about there, I’mma text him.”
The Chiefs beat Miami 26-7 at Arrowhead Stadium with the temperature at minus-4 degrees Fahrenheit and the wind chill reaching minus-27. Hill famously took the field for warmups without a shirt.
Hill’s comeback remains the bigger story
While the cold-weather banter is entertaining, Hill’s physical recovery is the more significant issue surrounding his future.
He suffered a dislocated knee and multiple ligament tears, including an ACL tear, during Miami’s September 2025 game against the New York Jets. The injury ended his season and required surgery.
Hill has since documented his rehabilitation, showing his work toward regaining strength, stability and mobility. He’s spoken openly about the severity of the injury, revealing that doctors initially warned him that they couldn’t predict what his future would look like.
His progress since then has allowed him to begin thinking seriously about returning to football.
His agent, Drew Rosenhaus, said in September that Hill’s doctors had recommended delaying a comeback until October. Rosenhaus also stressed that there was no reason to rush the process, with Hill’s health remaining the priority.
That timeline has fueled speculation about several potential destinations. A reunion with Kansas City remains one of the most discussed possibilities because Hill spent six seasons with the Chiefs, won a Super Bowl there and developed a strong connection with quarterback Patrick Mahomes.
Green Bay and New England have also emerged in the conversation following Hill’s cold-weather post.
A move to the Patriots would give quarterback Drake Maye another established offensive weapon. Green Bay, meanwhile, could offer Hill an opportunity to join a team with young receiving talent while potentially easing him back into a significant role.
Hill’s social-media messages suggest he believes a return is getting closer, but his medical clearance and potential team interest will ultimately determine what comes next.
