Zach Loboy , head coach of the Marist Catholic high school football team, was fired after his decisive 63-0 victory against their longtime rival, Cottage Grove .

Our top priority is supporting our players, creating a positive team environment

The "High School" coach lost his job for, according to the Oregon institute (United States), unsportsmanlike conduct .

In an email addressed to parents, the school explained the coach's dismissal: "Our top priority is to support our players, create a positive team environment, and help the team finish the season successfully... It was determined that a change in leadership was necessary to reflect our school's mission and values. We are aware that a mid-season coaching change may be difficult for players and their families. We appreciate your understanding, support, and prayers during this transition period".

“It’s really stupid and unsportsmanlike. We’re talking about high school sports. At this level, winning is important, but so is building character and integrity, since these boys are being helped to become young men”

Those "values" included not attempting an "onside kick" when the score was 57-0 in our favor during the first half .

"It's really stupid and unsportsmanlike. We're talking about high school sports. At this level, winning is important, but so is building character and integrity, since you're helping these boys become young men. Letting the backup players score is one thing; but trying an onside kick is something else entirely! Should the coach be fired? I guess that depends on whether he had already received prior warnings or not," commented a parent.
