Jonathan Owens' hesitation in his first big decision with the Colts creates a major problem for Simone Biles

Owens’ jersey number uncertainty left Biles without the key detail she needed for another custom game-day look

Simone Biles' first Colts game-day appearance looked noticeably different from the fashion statements she became known for during her time in Chicago.

When the Olympic champion arrived at Lucas Oil Stadium to support her husband, Jonathan Owens , during the Colts' preseason matchup with the Atlanta Falcons, she chose an understated look that suggested a new chapter was beginning in Indianapolis.

Biles wore a cropped black Colts tank top with oversized black cargo-style pants and flat shoes.

She completed the outfit with a quilted Chanel mini bag and plenty of jewelry, including a diamond-encrusted “Owens” necklace, a watch, a pinky ring, a hand chain and diamond huggie earrings.

While the overall outfit was simple, her accessories kept the personal touch fans have come to expect from her game-day appearances.

During Owens ' two seasons with the Chicago Bears, Biles regularly wore custom pieces designed around her husband, including jeans featuring his name and eye-catching outfits incorporating his jersey number.

One of her most memorable looks included custom red No. 36 pants paired with a cropped white fur jacket.

Her Chicago outfits frequently attracted attention online, so her first appearance supporting Owens in Indianapolis naturally raised expectations.

Owens' jersey number decision forced Biles to play it safe

There was, however, a practical reason Biles didn't arrive in another elaborate custom outfit. Owens was still deciding which jersey number he'd wear with the Colts.

Biles explained that she hadn't ordered anything custom because her husband's number hadn't been finalized. That left her unable to build an outfit around his new Colts identity without risking a last-minute change.

The decision eventually became official: Owens will wear No. 38 in Indianapolis, a change from the No. 36 he wore with Chicago. The Colts' official roster lists the veteran safety as No. 38, giving Biles the information she needs for future game-day fashion.

“Sorry to disappoint. I didn’t get anything custom-made for this game because Jonathan was still deciding between numbers. It’s official. He’ll be wearing number 38 this season,” she wrote.

That hesitation might seem minor, but it created a fashion problem for Biles . Her personalized NFL outfits have become part of her public image, and the jersey number often serves as the centerpiece of those designs.

Until Owens settled on No. 38, creating another custom piece simply didn't make much sense.

Still, Biles found other ways to celebrate the move. Earlier in August, she shared a sweet moment with Owens on the field during Colts practice, captioning the post with a message about their relationship and welcoming the return of football season.

Her first Colts appearance also came on a difficult night for the team. Atlanta cruised to a 34-6 victory, leaving Indianapolis struggling to generate much offense. Owens recorded one tackle in the preseason contest.
