Simone Biles breaks promise and makes Jonathan Owens the center of her life
The Olympic star had just said she would stop traveling to road games, but made an exception in London

Simone Biles appears to have found at least one road game worth breaking her own rule for.
The most decorated American gymnast in Olympic history was at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium on Sunday as Jonathan Owens and the Colts faced the Washington Commanders in London, despite recently saying she would not travel to Indianapolis’ away games this season.
Biles was seen on the sideline before kickoff, where she and Owens shared their customary pregame kiss.
The moment stood out because Biles had been clear only days earlier about scaling back the travel demands that came with following Owens throughout an NFL season.
“This year I’m not going to travel to the away games,” Biles told Us Weekly. “Last year was the first year I went to every single game. It was very difficult. I wanted to be there and support him because he is always there for me.”
Biles planned to stay home
Biles explained that following Owens throughout the previous season had become difficult to balance with her own professional commitments.
“I really wanted to be there and compete throughout the whole season. So I did,” she said. “Honey, this year I’m staying home so I can keep working those weekends [on tour].”
Her appearance in London, however, showed that the policy wasn't absolute.
The international game represented a notable exception, and Biles returned to a ritual that became familiar during Owens ’ time with the Chicago Bears .
She has previously described how important the sideline interaction is to her husband.
“He always looks for me on the sideline so I can give him, let’s say, good vibes and wish him good luck,” Biles told Olympics.com. “It’s just a superstition of his.”
Supporting each other a priority
Biles has also spoken about the logistical side of attending NFL games, particularly when friends and family travel to see Owens .
“When family and friends come to watch Jonathan at the games, that’s my schedule,” she said.
“You have to keep them entertained so Jonathan can keep recovering, get to meetings on time and relax as much as possible.”
The support has gone both ways. Owens traveled to Paris during the 2024 Olympics to watch Biles compete, where she won gold in the individual all-around, vault and team competition.
Biles later said being able to return that support meant a great deal to both of them.
“Oh my gosh! It means so much to me,” she said. “And I know it means so much to him that I can go support him at his games.”
That helps explain why London ultimately proved too tempting to skip. Biles may still plan to spend most road weekends at home this season, but when Owens looked to the sideline Sunday, she was there.
