Trevor Lawrence's TSA Screening at airport alongside Liam Coen was somehow the key to Jaguars success
It goes to show that quarterback-coach relationships take time to cultivate.

Heading into the 2025 season, after four years with the Jacksonville Jaguars , it would have been slightly harsh to call Trevor Lawrence a "bust". But given the elite ceiling he showed in college, the former No. 1 overall pick left fans wanting a lot more.
Midway through the 2025 season, it looked to be more of the same from Lawrence . Despite having an offensive guru in Liam Coen as his new head coach, Lawrence was still committing too many turnovers and taking too many sacks . Even after winning a second straight game and bringing the team's record to 7-4 , Lawrence had just thrown three interception against the Arizona Cardinals .
Thankfully, he also threw three touchdowns in that game, and averaged 8.5 yards per pass attempt . While the quarterback wasn't thrilled with his performance in that game, a huge vote of confidence from Coen ended up turning around Lawrence's season - and it happened during a TSA Screening process at the airport .
Liam Coen inspired confidence in Trevor Lawrence following three-touchdown, three-interception game
While speaking to Sports Illustrated's Albert Breer , Lawrence explained how his conversation with Coen in the TSA Screening Line fortified their relationship and set them on the right track.
That game, I really thought we started to click offensively. We had a lot of turnovers, but we did some really good things in the passing game. It was the most on the same page, you could say, that we were in the passing game as a unit all season. So, I thought there were a lot of positives. After the game, Liam and I talked; I saw him in the line doing TSA screening, and we were sitting there waiting. He was like, 'Man, I thought you played good. I know we had some turnovers, you had a throw or two you’d want back, but I thought you played well.' And I told him I felt the same way.
After that game, the Jaguars were practically unstoppable. They won their remaining six games and won the AFC South division title , but they ran into Josh Allen's Buffalo Bills in the first round of the playoffs.
Still, Lawrence showed immense growth late in the season. Following that Cardinals game, Lawrence threw 15 touchdowns and just one interceptions across his final six games . He also added four rushing touchdowns .
While his performance against the Bills against the playoffs saw him throw two interceptions, he still moved the ball enough to score three touchdowns. At 26 years old and in his second season alongside Coen, "T-Law" could be set for a true breakout in 2026 .
